Qualcomm is reportedly in advanced talks to acquire Silicon Valley-based Modular Inc., an AI chip startup, for about US$4 billion.

The deal would expand Qualcomm’s AI business.

A deal could be announced in the coming weeks, although terms could still change, and the talks could still end without an agreement.

Modular was founded in 2022 by Chris Lattner and Tim Davis. The startup raised US$250 million in September 2025 at a US$1.6 billion valuation, bringing its total funding to US$380 million.

The talks follow Qualcomm’s agreement last year to buy London-listed semiconductor company Alphawave IP Group Plc for about US$2.4 billion in cash, as it continues its acquisition drive.
