Qualcomm reportedly lands ByteDance AI chip deal

Qualcomm has reportedly reached a deal to supply ByteDance with millions of AI data center chips for the TikTok owner’s AI agent software, according to people familiar with the matter.

The agreement would make ByteDance one of the first major customers for Qualcomm’s AI-focused application-specific integrated circuits, as Qualcomm expands beyond smartphone processors.

ByteDance has been increasing AI spending, with its infrastructure budget reportedly rising 25% to 200 billion yuan ($29.4 billion).

The reported deal also reflects Qualcomm’s broader push into AI infrastructure.

The company has said it is lining up customers for AI-focused application-specific integrated circuits, though the specific chips in the ByteDance deal were not identified.

Any shipments would need to comply with US export rules for AI chips to China.
