Qualcomm, Meta sign multigen data center CPU deal
Qualcomm said in New York on June 25 that it signed a multi-generation agreement with Meta to supply data center central processing units, or CPUs, to Meta.
Production of Qualcomm’s first Dragonfly C1000 chip is planned to start in the second half of 2028.
Qualcomm described Dragonfly C1000 as a data center CPU that targets AI workloads and focuses on power efficiency, extending the companies’ relationship from consumer devices into data center infrastructure.
The deal fits into Meta’s hardware setup, which already runs Arm-based server platforms and deploys accelerators alongside third-party chips.
Meta raised its 2026 capital expenditure outlook from US$125 billion to US$145 billion, partly for additional data center capacity, suggesting the agreement aligns with its infrastructure expansion.
Adoption of Arm-based servers is also growing. Grand View Research estimated the market at US$5.84 billion in 2023.
