Qualcomm to launch AI data center chips linked to Nvidia

Qualcomm has announced plans to launch processors designed for data centers to support AI operations.

These new processors will connect to Nvidia’s GPUs and software, essential for training large AI models used in applications such as chatbots.

This move marks Qualcomm’s return to the data center market, supported by its 2021 acquisition of Nuvia, an Arm-based processor company.

By targeting Nvidia’s ecosystem, Qualcomm aims to compete with Intel, AMD, and custom CPUs from Amazon and Microsoft in the AI data center space.

Under CEO Cristiano Amon, Qualcomm is expanding beyond smartphones into chips for PCs and cars, with a new AI-enabled PC chip set for launch in September 2025.
