PUBG maker Krafton invests in Indian gaming firm JetSynthesys

Pune-based digital entertainment company JetSynthesys has secured funding from South Korean gaming firm Krafton.

The funding round also included participation from NAFA Private Equity, Serum Institute, Pratithi Investments, and Jetline Group, according to the Economic Times.

The capital will support global expansion, technology development, talent acquisition, and potential mergers and acquisitions.

While the exact amount raised hasn’t been disclosed, the Economic Times estimates the funding round values the company at around US$400 million based on past financial data.

Founded in 2014 by Rajan Navani, JetSynthesys is part of the JetLine Group and operates in gaming, mobile apps, and digital platforms. The company is also a co-founder of Nodwin Gaming, a listed gaming enterprise.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ Global gaming giants accelerate strategic positioning in India’s gaming market

KRAFTON’s investment in JetSynthesys follows just months after its $14 million acquisition of a controlling stake in Nautilus Mobile, makers of the popular Real Cricket franchise 1.

This reveals a strategy by global gaming powerhouses to secure strong positions in India’s rapidly growing gaming ecosystem through strategic investments rather than building from scratch.

The South Korean giant has deployed over $680 million on game studio acquisitions in the past two years, reviewing more than 1,000 studios for potential investment 2.

For Indian gaming companies, these partnerships provide crucial capital and global expertise while allowing them to maintain operational independence, as seen with Nautilus Mobile continuing operations with its existing 45-employee workforce post-acquisition 1.

KRAFTON’s approach in India aligns with its broader global strategy, where it is pursuing growth through both platform development and strategic integrations to expand its international footprint 3.

2️⃣ Gaming companies pursue ambitious growth through entertainment ecosystem expansion

JetSynthesys has built a diversified portfolio extending beyond core gaming, including over 300 games featuring celebrities like Sachin Tendulkar, music initiatives like “OnePlus Playback” that generated 110 million views, and various digital entertainment products 4.

This approach reflects the evolution of gaming companies into broader entertainment ecosystems, where cross-media integration creates multiple monetization opportunities beyond traditional game sales.
