Prosus group president set to resign from his position
Group president and chief investment officer of Prosus Ervin Tu will resign from his position.
Tu, who joined the company in August 2021, will remain as an advisor to the group.
During his time at Prosus, Tu led efforts to simplify the company’s structure and enhance financial performance. He also oversaw a share repurchase program and improved the operations of the investment team.
Tu was instrumental in the leadership transition to Fabricio Bloisi, who became CEO in July 2024.
In the past 10 months, Prosus has shifted strategically to become an operating technology company focused on lifestyle e-commerce in Latin America, India, and Europe.

🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ Strategic pivot from holding company to operator signals new era for Prosus
Prosus’s transformation from an investment holding company to an operating technology company represents a fundamental strategic shift in its business model.
This change is explicitly mentioned in Ervin Tu’s departure statement, where he notes the company’s “exciting new course as a connected, innovative tech company as opposed to an investment holding company” 1.
The company has strategically narrowed its focus to lifestyle e-commerce within three key regions: Latin America, India, and Europe, where it has established significant market presence through its portfolio companies 2.
Recent strategic moves supporting this pivot include partnerships with iFood and Uber, the acquisition of Despegar for $1.6 billion, investments in Just Eat Takeaway.com, and enhanced focus on AI technologies 13.
This transformation aligns with broader industry trends where technology companies are increasingly focusing on operational integration and digital ecosystem building rather than simply portfolio management, as highlighted in industry analyses 4.
2️⃣ Leadership changes reflect the company’s evolving priorities
Ervin Tu’s departure after three years marks a natural transition point following the successful appointment of Fabricio Bloisi as CEO in July 2024.
Tu’s tenure since August 2021 focused primarily on structural and financial optimization, including improving group-wide financial performance and implementing share repurchase programs—tasks that align with Prosus’s previous orientation as an investment holding company.
