US power equipment maker GE Vernova acquires French AI firm Alteia
GE Vernova, a power equipment firm spun off from General Electric, has acquired French AI company Alteia.
The acquisition will enhance GE Vernova’s GridOS Visual Intelligence system, which supports utility companies in inspecting electrical lines.
The deal, expected to close on August 1, 2025, did not disclose financial terms.
According to Christopher Dendrinos, an analyst at RBC Capital Markets, the electrification software segment, which includes the GridOS system, has seen mid-single-digit growth in recent years.
GE Vernova has indicated that there is potential for accelerated growth in this area.
This announcement comes as power demand rises, driven by increased usage in data centers that support AI and cryptocurrency technologies.
