Pony.ai robotaxi revenue hits record as sales jump 69%
Pony AI, a China-based autonomous driving company, said on Aug. 18 that second-quarter revenue rose 69% year on year to US$36.2 million, as robotaxi revenue climbed to a record US$12.1 million from US$1.5 million and made up about a third of total revenue.
Net loss widened to US$59.8 million from US$53.1 million a year earlier.
The company said agreements overseas, including with Uber, mean its planned and potential overseas deployments could reach more than 4,000 robotaxis, after raising its 2026 fleet target to 3,500 from 3,000 in May.
Pony AI said it offers paid fully driverless robotaxi services in Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, and has licenses to operate fully driverless vehicles in all four of China’s tier-1 cities.
Its Uber partnership includes plans to deploy more than 2,000 robotaxis in Europe, expanding from Zagreb to four more cities. Deployments in the Middle East are also planned.
