🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Pinterest revenue picks up as monetization improves, with third-party ad demand likely helping
- Pinterest posted 17% revenue growth vs 12% user growth. A 5% ARPU rise to $1.78 drove the gap, which means monetization improved.
- Amazon’s advertising business grew 22% in Q3 2025 1. Its demand-side platform (DSP) added reach through Roku, Netflix, and Spotify. Pinterest likely picks up spillover through programmatic channels (automated ad-buying systems) as buyers look beyond owned-and-operated inventory (ads sold on platforms they own).
- Europe revenue rose 41%, rest of world grew 66%. Pinterest is rolling out ad products in markets where Amazon posted 10% international growth ex-FX 1, though the mix between shopping catalogs and display remains unclear.
Martech teams and advertisers should focus on Pinterest’s international markets before rivals crowd in
- Pinterest sells ads directly in some countries; other markets use partners such as Httpool by Aleph and Mediadonuts 2. These regional ad-sales intermediaries provide local billing, account management, and support. Coverage spans Europe and Asia-Pacific (APAC). They also reach Africa, the Middle East, then Latin America (LATAM).
- In Brazil, 42.2 million people use Pinterest, with strong bases in Mexico and Germany 3. Amazon plans same-day delivery in 2,300 U.S. cities by the end of 2025 1.
- Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) teams building feed management or localization tools can move because shopping ads are “available only in some markets” 2, so integrating product catalogs in newly supported countries delivers first-mover advantage before the ad marketplace matures and revenue per thousand impressions (RPM) compress.
