Ping An Bank, UnionPay unveil AI computing card
Ping An Bank, a China-based commercial bank, said it has teamed up with China UnionPay and Tencent Cloud to launch the AI Computing Card, which it said is China’s first debit card for personal AI computing power spending.
Applications will open gradually from July through the bank’s Pocket Bank app and offline branches.
According to the company, cardholders can earn computing power points through card spending or by meeting asset-tier standards.
The debit card combines basic banking services with AI benefits through UnionPay’s cloud computing platform and Tencent WorkBuddy.
Ping An Bank said the card offers three benefit tiers, including account-opening rewards for eligible users, monthly spending rewards, additional points, and higher large-model call quotas for customers who qualify for gold-tier status.
The launch relies on third-party cloud services, which in China are generally regulated as outsourced services.
That requires banks to sign written contracts with service providers and monitor how customer data is processed.
