Philadelphia’s Asylon nets $26m to expand robotic security tech

Philadelphia-based robotics company Asylon has raised US$26 million in a Series B funding round led by Insight Partners. Additional investors include Veteran Ventures Capital, Allegion Ventures, and the GoPA Fund.

Founded in 2015, Asylon initially focused on drones for facility security. The company has since expanded to include robotic guard dogs, named DroneDog, and a command-and-control software called Guardian.

Asylon’s robotic systems are designed for ground patrols and aerial surveillance, providing broader coverage than stationary cameras. The units can detect gas leaks, chemicals, and other hazards. Currently, Asylon operates in 15 states and employs 65 people.

To date, the startup has raised approximately US$45 million, which includes around US$21 million in prior venture capital and government grants, according to CEO Damon Henry.

Asylon plans to use its latest funding to expand its technology and service offerings, as well as to increase its market reach.
