🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ Regulatory tailwinds create favorable IPO window for crypto exchanges
Bullish’s IPO timing coincides with significant regulatory shifts that have made the environment more favorable for crypto companies.
The Federal Reserve rescinded guidance in April 2025 that previously required banks to notify regulators before engaging in crypto activities, streamlining the supervisory process 1.
Similarly, the SEC approved in-kind creations and redemptions for crypto exchange-traded products and withdrew restrictions on broker-dealer custody of digital assets, reducing transaction costs for market participants 2.
These regulatory changes represent a marked shift from the more restrictive stance of previous years, creating a clearer path for crypto businesses to access traditional capital markets.
The timing suggests that Bullish is capitalizing on this improved regulatory clarity to pursue public listing, as institutional investors typically prefer companies operating in well-defined regulatory frameworks.
2️⃣ Bullish faces steep competition despite strong trading metrics
While Bullish’s $2.5 billion average daily trading volume in Q1 2025 ranks it among the top five exchanges for Bitcoin and Ether, it remains significantly smaller than established giants 3.
For perspective, Binance commands over 250 million users with $100 trillion in lifetime trading volume, while Coinbase holds approximately $404 billion in assets 4.
Bullish’s $1.25 trillion total trading volume since launch shows solid market engagement, but represents just over 1% of Binance’s lifetime volume despite both companies operating in similar timeframes 3.
