AI startup Perplexity launched a new assistant feature for Android devices, according to an announcement made on Jan. 23. Named Perplexity Assistant, the tool can book reservations, hail rides, and set reminders.

The feature supports 15 languages and is available through Google’s Play Store.

Perplexity plans to expand the assistant to iOS devices, pending Apple’s approval, as said by a company spokesperson.

The launch puts Perplexity in competition with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which recently introduced a similar feature called Tasks.

It also competes with voice assistants like Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa.
