Perplexity, an AI company, has acquired Carbon, a Seattle-based startup that connects AI systems to external data sources.

This acquisition aims to enhance Perplexity’s integration of AI capabilities with platforms such as Notion, Google Docs, and Slack by early 2025.

Perplexity said that Carbon will enhance its answer engine by allowing access to varied information sources, including internal databases and cloud storage.

This acquisition marks Perplexity’s second, following its purchase of Spellwise in 2023.
