Peak XV leads $17m series A in AI hiring startup Alex

Alex, a startup developing AI-powered recruiting tools, has raised US$17 million in a series A round led by Peak XV Partners.

The round also joined by Y Combinator, Uncorrelated Ventures, and several unnamed Fortune 500 chief human resource officers.

Alex’s software conducts autonomous voice and video interviews for job applicants, screening for factors like salary expectations and availability.

Co-founder Aaron Wang said the startup’s AI tools are already being used by large corporations, but did not disclose specific customers.

The company previously secured US$3 million in seed funding from 1984 Ventures.

The startup’s current focus is on automating initial candidate screening to save recruiters time.
