Over the past five years, the firm has generated US$3.6 billion in cash exits, with more than 30 portfolio companies going public.
In 2024 alone, it recorded exits totaling US$1.5 billion.

🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ India’s exit landscape signals maturing VC ecosystem
Peak XV’s 11x return from Porter represents a significant trend in India’s venture capital market, which has seen overall exits surge to $26.7 billion in 2024, a 7% increase from 2023 1.
The increasing frequency of successful exits in India is creating a positive cycle for the ecosystem, with PE-backed IPOs showing 130% year-on-year growth in 2024, totaling $3.3 billion across 40 deals 1.
This exit momentum is particularly valuable for longer-held investments like Porter (held for nearly 10 years), as the data shows open market exits accounted for the highest value at $12.9 billion in 2024 1.
Public market exits have become increasingly dominant, accounting for 76% of total exit value in India’s venture ecosystem in 2024, driven by a significant increase in IPO exit values 2.
The Porter exit exemplifies a milestone for India’s startup ecosystem, showcasing the ability to generate significant returns through multiple exit channels, which sustains investor confidence and attracts further capital.
2️⃣ The mega-fund equation presents mathematical challenges
India’s venture capital market has rebounded significantly, with total funding reaching $13.7 billion in 2024 (a 1.4x increase from 2023), yet the “mega-fund math” challenge remains evident even with successful exits like Porter 2.
For large funds like Peak XV, which is reportedly raising up to $1.4 billion for its next fund, even an exceptional $140 million return represents only a fraction of the capital that needs to be returned to limited partners.
