Peak XV backs BazaarNow in $7.5m funding round

BazaarNow, an Indian quick commerce startup said it raised 720 million rupees (US$7.53 million) in a funding round led by Peak XV Partners.

Whiteboard Capital, Antler, and several angel investors also participated.

The startup said it is building a quick commerce platform for middle-class households in tier 2 and tier 3 Indian cities.

The company focuses on local product and regional consumer preferences.

The funding comes as India’s quick commerce sector is reaching beyond metro cities into tier 2 and tier 3 towns, while companies including Flipkart are also targeting demand in non-metro areas.

Profitability in the sector remains uncertain.

An IBEF analysis said sustainability and profitability remain priorities as companies curb discounting and add revenue streams such as advertising, subscriptions, delivery surcharges, and private-label products.
