Paytm targets profit in 2026 with credit focus
Fintech company Paytm expects to reach profitability in 2026’s first quarter, as confirmed by founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma at the ET Now Global Business Summit.
Despite years of losses, Paytm is focused on achieving profitability, with CFO Madhur Deora stating in a Q3 2025 earnings call that the company expects adjusted EBITDA profitability in one to two quarters.
Sharma outlined Paytm’s strategy for the next two years, emphasizing payments, credit, and wealth management, with credit distribution playing a key role in driving profitability.
In Q3 2025, Paytm reported a net loss of 208.5 crore rupees (US$23 million), a 6% improvement from the previous year’s 221.7 crore rupees (US$25.5 million) loss.
Paytm also announced a new partnership with SBI Mutual Fund to launch a SIP plan, allowing investments starting at 250 rupees (US$2.88) daily, weekly, or monthly.
