Paytm has launched the Mahakumbh Soundbox, an upgraded payment device with a digital screen for instant visual payment notifications.

Introduced by founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma at the Startup Mahakumbh event on Apr. 4, the device features 4G connectivity, a 3-watt speaker, and up to 10 days of battery life.

It supports 11 languages, making it more accessible for merchants across India.

Unlike earlier models that only offered audio alerts, this soundbox provides real-time visual updates on payments.

As part of its strategy to boost revenue, Paytm has started monetizing soundboxes through brand audio ads. The company aims to become profitable by Q1 FY26.
