Workday Inc., an enterprise tech firm, has announced plans to reduce its workforce by approximately 1,750 employees, or 8.5% of its total staff.

The layoffs are attributed to increased competition and a difficult spending environment.

The company expects to incur costs between US$230 million and $270 million related to these layoffs.

This includes US$60 million to US$70 million anticipated in the fiscal fourth quarter.
