PayPal launches personalized payment links, plans crypto support

PayPal has launched PayPal links, a new feature that allows users to send and receive money through personalized, one-time payment links.

The service is now available in the US, with plans to expand to the UK, Italy, and other countries later this month.

Users can generate a unique link in the PayPal app, share it through text or email, and recipients can complete payments directly in the app.

Links are private, single-use, and expire after 10 days if unclaimed.

PayPal will soon integrate cryptocurrency into its peer-to-peer payment flow in the US, allowing users to send assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum to PayPal, Venmo, and other compatible digital wallets.

The company added that friends-and-family transfers through PayPal and Venmo remain exempt from 1099-K tax reporting.

PayPal, based in the US, operates digital payment services across nearly 200 markets.
