Japanese companies are innovating interior designs for autonomous vehicles to enhance the passenger experience.
Panasonic Automotive Systems is developing interactive features, such as vibrating seats and adaptive lighting that respond to sounds and visuals.
The company plans to commercialize this system by 2026.
In addition, Toyota Boshoku is creating customize interior layouts for autonomous vehicle.
Passengers could rearrange seating to enable face-to-face conversations, adding flexibility to the travel experience.
These innovations align with Japan’s amended Road Traffic Act, which has allowed Level 4 autonomous vehicles on roads under specific conditions since April 2023.
