Oracle targets $40b funding for AI expansion

Oracle, the US-based database and cloud infrastructure company, said it does not expect additional debt issuance in calendar 2026.

It plans to raise about US$40 billion in fiscal 2027 through debt and equity.

Its bonds rose on Thursday even as its shares fell as much as 13%.

The financing plan includes Oracle’s previously announced US$20 billion at-the-market stock sale.

Oracle had disclosed the sale earlier as part of its broader funding plan, after issuing US$25 billion of investment-grade bonds in February.

The update appeared to reassure credit investors. Some Oracle bond spreads tightened, and the cost of five-year credit default swaps, which insure against default, fell.

Equity investors, however, focused on higher-than-expected capital spending tied largely to data center and AI infrastructure.

Oracle reported fiscal 2026 capital expenditures of about US$55.7 billion, above its US$50 billion projection and sharply higher than the US$21.2 billion recorded in fiscal 2025.
