Oracle said to be in talks for cloud center in Indonesia
Oracle Corp. is in talks with the Indonesian government to establish a cloud services center on Batam Island, with Nongsa Digital Park as a primary candidate, people familiar with the matter said.
The location offers existing data center infrastructure, free trade zone benefits, and proximity to Singapore and Malaysia.
Oracle already runs two cloud computing centers in Singapore and has announced a US$6.5 billion data facility in Malaysia.
This move aligns with a broader trend of US tech giants, including Meta and Google, investing in data centers across Asia to support AI growth.
Talks about the Batam facility are ongoing, and Oracle and Indonesia’s Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs have not provided comments.
