Oracle Japan jumps 7% after record Q1 results
Oracle Japan, the Japanese arm of Oracle, rose more than 7% in Tokyo after reporting record fiscal first-quarter results.
The gain came even as Oracle’s US-listed parent fell more than 3% overnight after it triggered force majeure on the New Mexico data center project known as Project Jupiter.
For the June to August period, Oracle Japan’s net sales rose 13% to 74.9 billion yen (US$473 million), while operating profit increased 22.7% to 25.9 billion yen (US$164 million).
Net profit climbed 23.2% to 18.3 billion yen (US$115 million).
Cloud revenue grew 31.7% to 25.1 billion yen (US$159 million), raising cloud’s share of total sales to 33.6% from 28.8%.
Oracle Japan kept its full-year sales growth forecast of 6% to 10% unchanged.
The company said demand for cloud infrastructure was driving higher use of its Tokyo and Osaka data centers.
Oracle said in 2024 that it would invest more than US$8 billion in cloud and AI infrastructure in Japan over a decade.
Separately, SoftBank Corp., a Japan-based telecom and technology company, rolled out sovereign cloud services using Oracle technology and said on April 16, 2026, that it would launch generative AI services on Oracle-based infrastructure.
