Oracle in talks for $100m Skydance-Paramount cloud deal
Oracle is in talks with Skydance Media for a cloud software deal worth about US$100 million annually, following Skydance’s acquisition of Paramount Global.
The deal would allow Paramount and its subsidiaries to use Oracle’s cloud software.
Skydance, founded by David Ellison, already spent US$2.2 million on Oracle cloud services as of May 2024.
Larry Ellison, Oracle Chairman and David’s father, is also financially backing the US$8 billion acquisition.
The merger is pending FCC approval. David Ellison recently met with FCC Chairman Brendan Carr to discuss it. If the deal is finalized, the combined Skydance-Paramount could become a major Oracle cloud client.
