Oracle explores plan to address TikTok US security concerns

Oracle Corp. is exploring a proposal to address national security concerns over TikTok’s US operations. The plan includes providing data security assurances and possibly acquiring a small stake in a new American entity.

However, TikTok’s algorithm would remain under ByteDance’s control, which may ease Chinese approval but raises US compliance concerns.

The proposal requires approval from the Trump administration, ByteDance, and Chinese authorities.

Oracle, already working with TikTok through Project Texas to secure US user data, would collaborate with US buyers to ensure no backdoor access for the Chinese government.

TikTok’s US operations are valued at up to US$50 billion, with known bidders including Frank McCourt, Alexis Ohanian, and Jesse Tinsley.

The Trump administration, led by Vice President JD Vance, is working toward a potential agreement that balances national security with TikTok’s continued operations in the US.
