Oracle chairman Larry Ellison drops plan to sell shares
Oracle said Executive Chairman Larry Ellison had canceled a plan, disclosed a day earlier, to sell up to 50 million shares. The company said no shares were sold and that Ellison had no other plans to sell Oracle stock.
In a filing, Oracle, a US software and cloud infrastructure company, also said restructuring costs tied to a plan that includes job cuts would rise by about US$700 million.
It said it plans to raise US$40 billion through debt and equity financing this fiscal year, including a US$20 billion stock sale completed in the first quarter.
Oracle said in February it planned to raise US$45 billion to US$50 billion in gross cash proceeds in calendar 2026 through debt and equity financing.
The money would fund more cloud infrastructure capacity and help meet demand from customers including AMD, Meta, Nvidia, OpenAI, TikTok, and xAI.
