Oppo adapts to Indonesia’s policy, boosts local components
Chinese smartphone maker Oppo plans to rely more on Indonesian suppliers for local production to boost its global manufacturing capability.
The Tangerang factory, near the capital Jakarta, currently uses 36-37% of domestic components, exceeding Indonesia’s 35% requirement for manufacturers.
Jefry Firman de Haan, director of Oppo’s Indonesia manufacturing center, said the aim is to use local suppliers for all components.
He noted collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and local authorities to achieve this objective.
This initiative aligns with Indonesia’s domestic component level policy (TKDN), which recently led to bans on certain Apple and Google products for not meeting requirements.
