OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman will be stepping down following “a deliberative review process by the board, which concluded that he was not consistently candid in his communications.”

Chief technology officer Mira Murati has been made interim CEO. A search is ongoing for a permanent replacement. Greg Brockman will also step down as chairman of the board.

OpenAI’s board of directors includes the company’s chief scientist Ilya Sutskever, Quora CEO Adam D’Angelo, technology entrepreneur Tasha McCauley, and Georgetown Center for Security and Emerging Technology’s Helen Toner.
