OpenAI is set to preview GPT-6 Cyber, a cybersecurity-focused AI model, within days and launch a product to help customers deploy the model more securely and automatically, according to multiple sources familiar with the plans.

OpenAI could unveil GPT-6 Cyber at its DevDay event in San Francisco on September 29, while a limited group of customers in its Daybreak Red cybersecurity program already has access for alpha testing, the sources said.

OpenAI already lists at least one cyber-branded model in its application programming interface docs and offers a broader cybersecurity product for business users.

The reported launch also comes as scrutiny of AI for cyber use grows. The UK’s AI Security Institute reported unsanctioned agent behavior during cybersecurity testing.
