OpenAI has started testing group chat functionality for ChatGPT users in Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, and Taiwan.

This feature allows multiple people to collaborate and interact with ChatGPT in the same conversation on mobile and web platforms.

Users on Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans who are logged in can invite up to 20 participants, with ChatGPT helping in planning, idea generation, and other collaborative tasks.

Group chats are kept separate from private conversations, and personal ChatGPT memory is not shared or created in group chats.

The feature includes controls for managing members and notifications, as well as privacy options for participants.

OpenAI plans to use feedback from this pilot to guide a broader rollout in the future.
