OpenAI seeks to expand global AI use in everyday life
OpenAI is expanding efforts to promote AI adoption globally, focusing on building data centers and encouraging AI use in education, health, and disaster preparedness.
The initiative, named OpenAI for Countries, aims to increase access to AI technology and bridge gaps between nations with varying capabilities.
The company appointed former UK finance minister George Osborne and chief global affairs officer Chris Lehane to oversee the project, which is engaging government officials at Davos.
Eleven countries have signed up, including Estonia, which is integrating ChatGPT Edu into secondary schools, and Norway and the UAE, where OpenAI is working with other companies to build data centers and plans to be their first customer.
OpenAI is also exploring partnerships in disaster planning, such as a water-disaster warning system in South Korea.
