OpenAI said ChatGPT Ads will begin rolling out on September 24 in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Taiwan.

The expansion adds seven Asian markets and brings the product to more than 60 countries.

Advertisers can buy placements through OpenAI’s Ads Solutions team, agency partners, and technology partners.

Eligible businesses can also use the self-service Ads Manager.

OpenAI said ads will appear only for users on ChatGPT Free and Go plans, while Plus, Pro, and Enterprise subscriptions will remain ad-free.

The company also said in late August that ChatGPT Ads had reached a US$1 billion annualised revenue run rate in less than 200 days after launch.

The rollout comes as other generative AI companies test advertising. Perplexity, a US-based AI search startup, has been experimenting with advertising.
