OpenAI has partnered with Reliance to integrate AI-powered conversational search into JioHotstar, an Indian streaming service.

The feature, built using OpenAI’s API, will allow users to search for movies, shows, and live sports via text and voice prompts in multiple languages, with personalized recommendations.

The companies also plan to enable recommendations from JioHotstar within ChatGPT, creating a two-way discovery experience.

The announcement was made at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, where OpenAI CEO Sam Altman participated.

The collaboration is part of OpenAI’s broader efforts to expand its presence in India, including plans to open offices in Mumbai and Bengaluru.

The move aligns with industry trends, as platforms like Netflix and Google TV have also experimented with conversational AI features.
