OpenAI releases o1-pro AI model for developers
OpenAI has launched o1-pro, an upgraded version of its o1 “reasoning” AI model, available via API for developers who have spent at least US$5.
The model costs US$150 per million input tokens and US$600 per million output tokens, making it twice as expensive as GPT-4.5 for input and ten times costlier than o1 for output.
OpenAI claims o1-pro offers better responses by using more computational power and has been available to ChatGPT Pro users since December.
Early users report mixed results, with o1-pro struggling on tasks like Sudoku and optical illusion jokes, though benchmarks show slight coding and math improvements.
