A new data center linked to the US$100 billion President Donald Trump’s Stargate initiative is under construction in Abilene, Texas.

This initiative is a collaboration between OpenAI, SoftBank Group Corp., and Oracle Corp., with the project spanning 875 acres – comparable to New York’s Central Park.

The facilities, leased to Oracle and financed by firms including JPMorgan Chase & Co., are being built by Crusoe Energy Systems, Blue Owl Capital Inc., and Primary Digital Infrastructure.

Employment forecasts for the Abilene site suggest at least 57 full-time positions, with an average annual salary of US$57,600.

The initial phase of the Abilene project will focus on a 200-megawatt data center. Future plans are to expand capacity to 1.2 gigawatts.
