- Amazon’s US$50 billion pledge starts with US$15 billion, then adds US$35 billion in the coming months once certain conditions are met 2.
- OpenAI said it will expand its existing US$38 billion agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon’s cloud computing unit, by US$100 billion over the next eight years 2.

- Nvidia’s US$30 billion investment links to OpenAI plans to use 3 gigawatts of dedicated inference capacity plus 2 gigawatts of training on Nvidia’s Vera Rubin systems, Nvidia’s next-generation AI computing platform 1.
OpenAI’s mega-round links frontier AI competition to infrastructure
- The raise, more than double the size of its last record-breaking round 2, ties growth to access to large-scale compute.
- Along with the money, OpenAI set out infrastructure partnerships with Amazon and Nvidia that widen distribution and capacity 3.
- These deals raise the cost of competing for smaller AI labs that cannot fund similar buildouts.
- Even so, OpenAI has reportedly cut its long-term compute spending target to about US$600 billion by 2030, which suggests pressure to match expansion plans with expected revenue 2.
