OpenAI launches ChatGPT for financial services
OpenAI has launched ChatGPT for Financial Services, a version of ChatGPT Work for investment banking and equity research teams.
It combines built-in financial datasets with GPT-6 Astra to produce research, financial models, and client materials.
OpenAI said Morgan Stanley and Evercore helped shape the product as design partners.
The tool includes data from Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News, and Crunchbase, a US-based provider of private company data.
It also lets users trace figures to source documents.
OpenAI said it was working on shared sign-in and entitlement integrations with providers including S&P Capital IQ, Moody’s, Dow Jones Factiva, MSCI, and LSEG.
OpenAI said the product includes controls such as single sign-on, role-based access, audit log exports, configurable retention settings, and a default setting under which customer business data is not used to train its models.
The launch comes as FINRA, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, covers AI use in securities and has reviewed use cases.
This signals that broker-dealers using generative AI still face supervision, recordkeeping, and communications obligations.
It also enters a market where AI-driven research platforms such as AlphaSense, a US-based market intelligence company, already target workflows for financial analysis and position themselves against Bloomberg.
