OpenAI helps Chatham Financial expand AI use in capital markets
OpenAI said on October 2 that Chatham Financial, a US-based advisor on capital markets decisions, is using Codex and GPT-5.6 in internal and client-facing tools.
Chatham said one tool cut trade validation time from 30 minutes to under four. The company said the application gathers transaction evidence, compares key terms, and flags discrepancies.
The firm is comparing the app’s results with those of experienced reviewers before extending it to more trade types and automating more of the workflow.
Chatham also uses ChatGPT and Codex in employee-built apps and Chatham Onyx, its next-generation capital markets operating system.
The company uses the tools for software development and AI features such as summarizing historical market data, helping users understand portfolios, and locating and linking to legal documents.
The rollout comes after the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) said firms that use AI remain responsible for compliance and should apply supervision, governance, testing, and monitoring controls.
AI use in post-trade operations is spreading, including for data validation, reconciliation, exception management, and anomaly detection.
