OpenAI has made its AI search engine available to all users of ChatGPT, including free-tier ones, after being exclusive to paid subscribers since October.

The update, revealed during OpenAI’s “12 Days of Ship-mas” livestream, improves the mobile experience.

It now displays search results in a traditional format with details like images, ratings, and maps for businesses.

Further improvements include faster search results for specific websites, such as hotel booking platforms, with links provided before detailed information.

However, some features, like automatic web updates in Advanced Voice Mode, will remain exclusive to paid subscribers.

This update follows other announcements, including the launch of Sora, a text-to-image model, and a new US$200 monthly ChatGPT Pro subscription.
