OpenAI said on July 21 that 10 million people now use its AI agent products, Codex and ChatGPT Work, nearly double the figure from earlier this month.

The increase follows the launch of ChatGPT Work as OpenAI tries to keep pace with rival Anthropic PBC.

OpenAI launched ChatGPT Work on July 9 as a product for teams. Codex, meanwhile, is integrated into ChatGPT plans.

Anthropic has introduced Claude Cowork, which it describes as an AI agent that works alongside users. The product builds on Claude Code rather than simply copying AI coding tools.

OpenAI helped start the current AI boom with ChatGPT in late 2022, and the chatbot now has more than 900 million weekly users.
