OpenAI CFO addresses Musk’s legal actions

During the World Economic Forum in Davos, OpenAI chief financial officer Sarah Friar addressed Elon Musk’s ongoing legal actions against the company.

Musk, a co-founder of OpenAI, has criticized the organization’s shift from a nonprofit to a for-profit model, arguing that it undermines the organization’s founding principles.

Friar explained that developing advanced AI technology requires substantial capital investment, which prompted the shift to a more sustainable funding model.

She also pointed out that Musk previously acknowledged the challenges of maintaining a nonprofit structure in a field that requires substantial financial resources.
