OpenAI said on October 7 that it will add College Planner to ChatGPT for Teens, initially for students in the US in grades 10 to 12 who plan to attend four-year colleges.

The tool will organize application requirements, deadlines, and financial aid tasks in one plan, and let students ask questions.

OpenAI also said it will support Boston Children’s Hospital’s Digital Wellness Lab, a US research group focused on children’s media and technology use, and its independent Student Advisory Council for three years of work on digital wellbeing and AI.

The lab already runs surveys on how teenagers use AI for learning, creative work, and social connection, and how they view the technology.

The US Federal Trade Commission, the country’s consumer protection agency, launched an inquiry in September 2025 into AI companion chatbots and how companies protect children and teenagers.

OpenAI also announced an iOS feature that combines note photos into PDFs, along with updates to flashcards and quizzes.
