OpenAI will add 250 jobs in Dublin as it expands its European headquarters and leases 88,000 sq ft at the Tropical Fruit Warehouse to meet what it called growing demand from users, customers, and developers across Europe.

OpenAI already employs about 100 people in Ireland. The new roles span engineering, user operations, human resources, finance, privacy, and legal functions.

The hiring builds on a Dublin office that opened in September 2023. Its Irish entity became the data controller for users in the European Economic Area and Switzerland on February 15, 2024.

That setup could make Ireland’s Data Protection Commission OpenAI’s lead privacy regulator under the bloc’s one-stop-shop rules if the company secures main establishment status.

OpenAI has also introduced data residency in Europe for eligible enterprise application programming interface customers.

The Tropical Fruit Warehouse is in Dublin’s Docklands, and OpenAI is due to relocate there in late 2026.

The expansion comes as Meta and TikTok cut roles in Ireland and Anthropic also expands in Dublin, while information and communications technology employment fell almost 11% year on year in the first quarter of 2026.
