OpenAI acquires biopharma software platform Orchestra Bio
OpenAI said on October 20 that it had acquired Orchestra Bio, a software platform for biopharma teams, and would combine its team and technology with Rosalind, OpenAI’s life sciences research tools.
The announcement did not disclose deal terms.
OpenAI said Orchestra’s software helps drug development teams track studies, timelines, and dependencies across programs. Problems in one task can delay others.
GPT-Rosalind was launched in April 2026 as an AI model for life sciences research. Rosalind includes OpenAI’s life sciences models and tools.
OpenAI said it wants to build AI agents to help coordinate drug development, a process that takes about 10 to 15 years on average from target discovery to US regulatory approval.
It also pointed to its partnership with Novo Nordisk and its AI work with Moderna.
