OMS Group invests $300m in SEA cable, network upgrade

Malaysia-based OMS Group has earmarked US$300 million to upgrade its submarine cable systems and terrestrial infrastructure.

The funding will also enable OMS Group to develop backhaul infrastructure connecting cable landing stations to data centers.

OMS Group is one of the world’s largest independent telecommunications operators, managing a fleet of cable ships and barges.

The company’s current projects feature Project MIST, an 8,100 km subsea cable system capable of transmitting 216 terabits per second, connecting Malaysia, India, Singapore, and Thailand.
