OKX, ICE plan tokenized securities venue under SEC exemption
OKX said OKXICE, its joint venture with Intercontinental Exchange, the US-based parent of the New York Stock Exchange, notified the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of plans to launch a tokenized securities venue under the regulator’s Innovation Exemption.
OKX said the notice covers more than 60 US-listed companies whose issuers have 30 days to opt out.
The proposed venue would offer permissioned on-chain trading of tokenized US equities on X Layer, which OKX describes as an Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible layer-2 network. It aims to support round-the-clock trading, instant settlement, and self-custody.
OKX said it is working toward a launch within the notice window, subject to meeting the exemption’s operating requirements.
The SEC issued the exemption as a limited pilot for tokenized National Market System stock trading, with investor-protection and data-reporting conditions.
OKXICE was formed in June 2026 as a 50-50 venture between Intercontinental Exchange and OKX to build a tokenized securities trading platform.
