OceanBase said on October 2 that it signed a memorandum of understanding with Vietnam’s MB Bank, formally Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank, to support the lender’s database modernization and infrastructure resilience.

OceanBase, an Ant Group-affiliated database technology provider based in Singapore, will provide database technology for MB Bank’s modernization plans. MB Bank will retain control of its data management and daily operations.

The announcement comes as Vietnam’s digital economy expands. A report by Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company said the economy grew 17% in 2025.

The agreement also signals OceanBase’s expansion in Southeast Asia. The company serves GCash.
