OCBC says seniors’ app payment transactions up nearly 60%

OCBC, a Singapore-based bank, said internal data shows customers aged 60 and above made close to 60% more digital payment transactions on its app in the 12 months ended June 30, 2026.

The number of seniors using the app for these payments rose nearly 30%.

The bank said seniors’ PayNow payments to ecommerce and livestream shopping platforms were 1.5 times higher than a year earlier.

Overseas QR payment transactions through its Scan & Pay feature more than doubled.

China accounted for almost 80% of that spending by value.

OCBC said the shift came after digital banking workshops and outreach under its SeniorCare program.

The bank said the program has engaged more than 150,000 seniors at more than 180 events since 2022.

For cross-border spending, OCBC’s app lets users scan QR codes on Weixin Pay in China and make payments at overseas merchants that accept Alipay+.
